Rose Geranium is one of the most versatile plants in the world. It combines notes of rose, ginger, apple, coconut, strawberry, and many many others.

Beautiful Skin for the Ancients

The use of rose geranium oil dates back thousands of years, having been documented as widely used in ancient Egypt, where the upper class would use it as a skin beautifier and perfume. It is, to this day,  a key ingredient in various modern-day skin treatments – reducing the appearance of acne. Because this plant does not typically irritate the skin, it can be used on a daily basis for both perfumery and skin treatments. A 2017 study published by scientists at the university of Kansas City and the University of Medical Sciences in Tehran shows the multi-faceted applications of this botanical.

Relief from Depression

Rose Geranium has been widely used as a mood-boosting and analgesic agent due to its uplifting nature. It is It’s hard not to fall in love with this oil – it seems to emit pure happiness. Its ability to even out mood swings make it a great candidate for treatment of mild depression, insomnia, and anxiety. While it is scientifically unclear at this point whether these effects are caused by the scent itself, chemical agents in the plant, or memories, the results are very positive.

Anti-Microbial, Anti-bacterial, and Anti-Viral 

Another 2017 study show rose geranium oil can  reduce or eliminate bacterial, fungal, and viral counts that cause skin disease and infections.

Anti-Inflammatory 

A 2013 study shows rose geranium oil as having a strong impact on inflammation. This study was performed on mouse paws and ears, and suggests that rose geranium essential oil could be the basis for new anti-inflammatory drugs that eliminate certain existing side effects.
